Edmonton, Alberta - Komatsu Ltd., a heavy equipment manufacturer, is deepening its commitment to the Canadian market with a major investment to transform its Edmonton, Alberta, parts depot into a full-service distribution center. The expansion will double the existing warehouse’s capacity to approximately 135,000 square feet, significantly enhancing the company’s ability to serve dealers and customers across Canada.

The new facility marks a key milestone in Komatsu’s strategy to improve service levels, reduce lead times, and strengthen its logistics network in North America. By expanding the Edmonton site, Komatsu will be able to store and distribute fast-moving parts directly from the region, offering faster delivery—including 24-hour service—to dealers in western Canada.

Mr. Danny Murtagh, Vice President of Parts and Infrastructure, said, “Our customers rely on Komatsu for uptime and productivity, and this investment ensures we can meet those expectations faster and more efficiently than ever. By bringing parts closer to where our customers operate, we’re cutting lead times, boosting availability, and improving customer service.”

Once operational, the expanded Edmonton facility will evolve from a regional depot into a fully integrated parts distribution hub, serving as a cornerstone of Komatsu’s North American logistics system. The site will streamline supply routes from the company’s global manufacturing hubs in Japan and Indonesia, improving overall supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.

The new distribution center will feature upgraded layouts, modern automation, and advanced integration with Komatsu’s global planning and warehouse management systems. It will also increase workforce capacity, supported by new technology and staffing to enhance overall operational performance.
