Spelle, Germany – Krone Group., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has expanded the application range of its XDisc 710 direct cut header, making it compatible with John Deere and New Holland forage harvesters in addition to Krone BiG X machines.
Designed mainly for whole crop silage production, the XDisc 710 is built for high harvesting capacity, consistent crop flow and reliable operation. The latest adaptations allow the header to be used across different forage harvester platforms while maintaining its cutting and feeding performance.
The XDisc 710 features two cutterbars based on Krone EasyCut mower technology. Both cutterbars are connected to a central input gearbox and driven through universal shafts and angular gearboxes. This setup is designed to provide a consistent cut even under high-throughput operating conditions.
Crop transfer is handled by a 900 mm-diameter auger conveyor, which can be adjusted in height and matched to the forage harvester intake speed through a three-speed gearbox. This helps maintain an even crop flow, reduce load peaks and support consistent chop quality.
The auger conveyor is protected by a star ratchet clutch, while the chain drive includes active central lubrication to reduce maintenance requirements and improve durability.
Krone also offers optional equipment for more demanding harvesting conditions. A crop press roller can improve crop flow in dense material and help reduce blockages, while side-mounted cutting blades are designed to cut heavily intertwined crops and limit harvesting losses.
For road transport, Krone has developed a dedicated transport wagon for the XDisc 710. The two-axle wagon is approved for speeds of up to 40 km/h and includes an overrun brake, automatic reverse function and lighting system.
