Mumbai- Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a SUV maker, has launched the new Thar. The latest model adds refreshed design cues, enhanced comfort, and smarter tech integration—built to handle weekday city commutes as confidently as rugged weekend escapes.

Mr. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Over the years, Thar has become more than just an SUV—it’s a symbol of freedom, adventure, and a lifestyle that resonates deeply with our customers. At Mahindra, we are committed to listening to our customers and evolving with their needs, which is why the New Thar reflects both their feedback and our dedication to provide the best to our customers. By blending new design elements, smart technology, enhanced comfort and convenience features, the New Thar offers an unparalleled driving experience that empowers our customers to explore limitless possibilities in both urban and off-road settings.”

The New Thar gets a refreshed face with a distinct front grille, a dual-tone front bumper, and bold R18 alloy wheels that give it real road presence. Step inside and you’re greeted by an all-new black-themed dashboard and a new steering wheel that lift the cabin’s sophistication. It’s offered in six paint shades, including two striking new additions: Tango Red and Battleship Grey.

Daily comfort has taken a clear step up. Rear AC vents keep second-row passengers cool, while a sliding armrest and an AT-only dead pedal reduce driver fatigue. Practical touches—door-mounted power windows, a rear-view camera, an internally operated fuel lid, and a rear wash & wiper—make city driving and bad weather easier to handle. An A-pillar entry assist handle adds confidence for easy ingress and egress.

Tech and connectivity are equally modern. A 26.03 cm HD infotainment screen supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Type-C USB ports keep devices powered. The Tyre Direction Monitoring System shows real-time tyre orientation, and the Adventure Stats Gen II suite caters to explorers with data such as racing tab, altimeter, outside temperature and pressure, trip meter, and steering direction—useful both on and off the road.

Under the hood, Mahindra offers multiple engine and drivetrain combinations with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic options, in both RWD and 4x4. The 2.0 mStallion petrol produces 112 kW at 5000 r/min, with 300 Nm at 1250–3000 r/min (MT) or 320 Nm at 1500–3000 r/min (AT). Diesel choices include the 2.2 L mHawk (97 kW at 3750 r/min, 300 Nm at 1600–2800 r/min for both MT & AT) and the D117 CRDe (87.2 kW at 3500 r/min, 300 Nm at 1750–2500 r/min, MT). Together, they offer a spread of performance to match daily commutes and weekend trails alike.

AXT: This variant gets the iconic headlamps and LED tail lamps, rugged R16 steel wheels, and a refreshed cabin with a new dashboard and steering wheel. Comfort and practicality include rear AC vents with a console-mounted sliding armrest, a height-adjustable driver seat, vinyl upholstery, and an A-pillar entry assist handle. You also get power windows in the front door trims, an internally opening fuel lid, remote keyless entry, rear parking sensors, and a rear demister. Safety and control are covered by dual airbags, ESP with roll-over mitigation, hill hold and hill descent control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, plus an electronic brake-locking differential for RWD.

LXT: Building on that, the LXT adds R18 Deep Silver alloy wheels with Thar branding, front fog lamps with DRLs, dual-tone bumpers, and moulded side foot steps. Inside, it swaps to fabric upholstery and brings an HD 26.03 cm touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 4-speaker + 2-tweeter audio setup, and a new steering wheel with audio/phone controls. Capability and convenience step up with electric driveline disconnect on the front axle (4WD), Adventure Statistics Gen II, a rear-view camera, cruise control, electric ORVM adjustment, rear wiper and washer, Tyretronics (TPMS) with TDMS (Tyre Direction Monitoring System), and a dead pedal on AT variants.
