      Mercedes-Benz Delivers 100th eCitaro Electric Bus to VAG Nuremberg

      Mercedes-Benz has handed over the 100th electric eCitaro G bus to VAG Nuremberg, expanding its zero-emission fleet and enhancing urban mobility with advanced safety, comfort, and digital features.

      Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Nuremberg- Mercedes-Benz continues to drive the transition to sustainable urban mobility with the delivery of the 100th electric bus to VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg (VAG Nuremberg) a public transport company. The milestone vehicle, a battery-electric eCitaro G articulated bus numbered 417, was officially handed over on May 7, 2025, at VAG’s Jaeckelstraße depot by Rüdiger Kappel and André Martin of Daimler Buses to VAG Board Member Tim Dahlmann-Resing.

      Part of a 31-unit order to be completed by May 2025, the new eCitaro G buses will expand VAG’s eCitaro fleet to 77, accounting for nearly 70% of its electric bus lineup. These buses contribute significantly to cleaner air and quieter streets in Bavaria’s second-largest city thanks to their locally emission-free operation and quiet electric drive.

      Designed for efficiency and comfort, the four-door articulated buses feature seven battery packs with a combined energy capacity of 686 kWh, enabling a range of up to 300 kilometers. Charging is performed at the Schweinau eBus port, which includes photovoltaic power and space for 39 simultaneous charging sessions. The adjacent depot accommodates up to 170 buses, each with charging capability.

      With capacity for 124 passengers, the eCitaro G is equipped with advanced safety systems including Preventive Brake Assist 2, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, and Attention Assist. Comfort features include 37 City Star Eco seats, a CO₂ heat pump air conditioning system, antiviral air filters, and ambient LED lighting. Accessibility is prioritized through designated areas for wheelchairs and strollers, plus a manual ramp at the central door.

      Passenger convenience is further enhanced with dual USB charging ports, 29-inch infotainment monitors, and comprehensive onboard surveillance with eight dome cameras. Connectivity is ensured through the Bus Data Centre, providing full integration with Omniplus digital services.

      The Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G continues to set new standards in public transportationcombining innovation, sustainability, and comfort to shape the future of urban mobility in Nuremberg.
