Argentina- Mercedes-Benz Camiones y Buses, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG., has officially inaugurated its new Zárate Industrial Center located north of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new facility has been developed on a 20-hectare site and will focus on the production of Mercedes-Benz trucks and bus chassis.
The company has invested USD 110 million in the new industrial complex, which includes vehicle production operations, a spare parts and components logistics center, and Argentina’s first dedicated plant for the remanufacturing of used truck and bus replacement parts.
Mr. Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said the opening of the Zárate plant represents a new chapter for Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Argentina. He highlighted that the facility gives the company a dedicated focus on trucks and buses in the country, while also strengthening Argentina’s role within Daimler Truck’s global production network.
Mr. Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses, said that the new plant will help Daimler Buses support local customers with reliable, locally built buses for both urban and long-distance applications, while also preparing the company for future mobility solutions, including electric mobility.
The Zárate Industrial Center is strategically located near the port and a national road, providing advantages in logistics, cost efficiency, and delivery time. The facility will produce Atego and Accelo trucks, along with OF and OH bus chassis models featuring front and rear engine configurations.
The site also includes Argentina’s first plant dedicated to the remanufacturing of spare parts for trucks and buses. Its portfolio includes components such as gearboxes, engines, and cylinder heads, with more than 9,600 remanufactured parts already delivered.
In addition, the complex houses a Spare Parts and Components Logistics Center, which was inaugurated in December 2024. This center supports nationwide distribution and enables delivery services within 24 to 48 hours.
