Bengaluru- Ola Electric Mobility Limited., has announced that its Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh), powered by the company’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, has received approval under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989 from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar, a government testing agency.
Following this certification, Ola Electric will begin deliveries of the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh). The company said the approval marks a milestone, positioning the Roadster X+ as India’s first electric motorcycle to be certified with a completely in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack.
Ola Electric stated that the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) offers a claimed range of up to 500 km, attributing the figure to the high energy density and improved thermal performance of its 4680 Bharat Cell technology. The company added that the range capability is intended to make longer inter-city travel more practical and reduce range anxiety, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets where charging infrastructure can be limited.
An Ola Electric spokesperson described the certification as a key step in the company’s goal of building end-to-end EV technology in India, and said the Roadster X+ combines long range with performance, safety, and reliability driven by Ola’s in-house cell and battery platform.
With the Roadster X+ certification, Ola Electric said it is extending the 4680 Bharat Cell technology across its two-wheeler lineup, covering both scooters and motorcycles, and that the same platform will also support upcoming products under the Ola “Shakti” roadmap, underscoring its vertically integrated approach across cells and battery packs.
