New Delhi - SKODA AUTO a.s., is set to launch the all-new fourth-generation Skoda Superb at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025. Scheduled to launch in India next year as a fully imported model, it will be showcased alongside the new Kodiaq and Octavia RS. Globally debuted in late 2023, the fourth-gen Superb features an evolutionary design update over the outgoing third-generation model.
The new Skoda Superb adopts the brand’s Modern Solid design, featuring sharp, angular lines with classic Skoda cues, making it more stylish than its predecessor. Inside, it offers customizable ‘smart dial’ controls and a 13-inch infotainment screen, alongside physical buttons. Globally, it comes with various petrol and diesel engine options. In India, it is likely to feature a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 204hp or 265hp outputs.
Like the outgoing Superb, which was reintroduced as a fully imported model last year, the new-generation Superb will also be launched in India as a fully imported unit. Skoda confirmed this due to the production shift from Kvasiny, Czechia, to the VW Group’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia, which lacks the capability to produce CKD kits and can only manufacture complete vehicles for local sales and exports.
Local assembly of the new Superb won’t be cost-effective for India, as the previous-gen locally assembled model struggled to sell more than 400 units per month. The fully imported third-gen Superb also faced slow sales, with some unsold units being offered at significant discounts. While the fourth-gen Superb will be imported as a fully built unit, it will require modifications like ADAS calibration for Indian conditions, increasing costs. Skoda may bring back the diesel variant via the CBU route to attract diesel buyers, but overall, importing the fourth-gen Superb will be expensive.
