Coimbatore - Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU)., has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VST Tillers Tractors Ltd., a compact farm machinery manufacturer, to advance awareness, research, and training in small farm mechanization across the state.

The collaboration aims to strengthen sustainable food production by combining technological innovation with agronomic and educational initiatives. Key focus areas include frontier research in small farm machinery, student training on modern agricultural technologies, farmer awareness programs, local testing and evaluation of VST’s equipment, and research opportunities for TNAU students. The agreement also paves the way for internships and project-based learning at VST Tillers Tractors, including exposure to the company’s upcoming Global Technology Development Centre in Hosur.

The MoU was signed by Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors Ltd., and Dr. R. Thamizh Vendan, Registrar, TNAU, in the presence of Dr. A. Raviraj, Dean of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, TNAU; Dr. R. Tyagarajan, Associate Professor, Department of Farm Machinery; Dr. R. Kavitha, Professor; and Raja Chidambaram, DGM, SFM, VST Tillers Tractors.

Mr. Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors Ltd., said, “This collaboration with TNAU aligns with our vision to empower small and marginal farmers through affordable mechanization solutions. By working closely with TNAU’s faculty and students, we aim to develop practical, field-ready technologies that improve agricultural practices and farmer livelihoods.”

Dr. Thamizh Vendan emphasized the academic value of the agreement, noting that it will enhance the practical exposure of students while bridging the gap between research and real-world farming applications. This partnership ensures that the benefits of small farm mechanization reach farmers at the grassroots level.
