Adana, Türkiye - TEMSA Skoda Sabancı Ulaşım Araçları A.Ş. is a Turkish manufacturer of buses, midibuses, and light-trucks, has delivered 15 units MD9 electriCITY electric buses to Lithuania, a public transport electrification markets. With further deliveries scheduled through 2026, the total number of TEMSA vehicles operating in Lithuania is expected to rise to 321 units.

The handover ceremony in Kaunas was attended by representatives from the European Commission, national and municipal authorities, members of the Central Project Management Agency, and TEMSA CEO Evren Güzel.

The newly supplied buses will be operated by UAB Kautra, one of Lithuania’s largest public transport companies and a TEMSA partner for more than two decades. These vehicles will support local municipal transport services and form part of Lithuania’s wider effort to accelerate the shift toward zero-emission public mobility.

Lithuania continues to rank among Europe’s leaders in transport electrification. Recent European Commission figures show that electric buses represented around 52% of all new bus registrations in the country in 2025, underlining Lithuania’s strong commitment to sustainable mobility.

Mr. Evren Güzel TEMSA CEO said the company aims to be a preferred mobility brand by designing solutions around real customer and market needs.

He noted that TEMSA, with nearly 60 years of experience and vehicles operating in 70 countries, has built its growth strategy on understanding the specific needs of each geography and customer. He added that the company has been investing in electrification for many years and now offers 11 zero-emission vehicles in its portfolio. TEMSA also develops its own battery systems and invests in charging and energy solutions, enabling it to position itself not only as a manufacturer but also as a comprehensive mobility partner.

Mr. Linas Skardžiukas, CEO of Kautra, said that the transition involves more than simply purchasing vehicles. It also requires the development of the necessary charging infrastructure and operational solutions.

He noted that one electric bus can reduce roughly 650 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over a 10-year period, equivalent to the emissions generated by around 360 passenger cars over the same timeframe.

The Lithuania delivery follows another important milestone for TEMSA, which recently supplied 10 units of its LD SB E model described as Europe’s first intercity electric coach to Portugal. That shipment marked the largest single delivery of the LD SB E to date.

Designed specifically for urban transport, the MD9 electriCITY features a 9.5-metre body length and a 250 kW electric motor. The model is already operating in several European markets, including Sweden, France, Romania, and Latvia, and also holds the distinction of being TEMSA’s first exported electric vehicle.

With its customer-focused approach and ongoing investment in new technologies, TEMSA continues to adapt its portfolio to evolving mobility needs while strengthening its role in Europe’s transition toward cleaner public transport.
