PLANO, USA - Toyota Motor Corporation, an automotive manufacturer, has unveiled the 2026 GRMN Corolla, a track-focused compact hatchback that represents the highest level of GR Corolla performance. Developed under GR’s motorsport-driven philosophy of building ever-better cars, the model is engineered to deliver confident, high-limit driving performance on demanding circuits such as the Nürburgring, where Toyota Master Driver Akio Toyoda, also known as Morizo, began his driving journey.

The 2026 GRMN Corolla will be produced at Toyota Motor Corporation’s Motomachi plant in Japan and is planned mainly for North America, Japan and Australia. Toyota will announce full specifications and the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price at a later date.

The GRMN Corolla is designed to deliver a deeper connection between the driver and the car. With increased engine torque, reduced weight and motorsport-derived upgrades, the model aims to offer a more responsive and visceral driving experience. Its development was influenced by lessons from the Super Taikyu endurance racing series, extensive Nürburgring testing and advanced driving simulator evaluations.

Toyota developed the GRMN Corolla in line with Morizo’s direction that a vehicle carrying the GRMN name must be capable of performing properly at the Nürburgring. Known as one of the world’s most demanding circuits, the Nürburgring helped reveal areas for improvement under high-speed, rough-surface and high-load conditions. Through repeated testing, the GR team tuned the vehicle to respond more naturally to driver inputs across a wide range of driving situations.

The car also benefits from aerodynamic development proven through motorsport. Dedicated components such as the hood duct, fender ducts, front side spoilers and adjustable rear wing were refined using knowledge gained from the hydrogen-powered GR Corolla competing in the Super Taikyu Series. The rear wing features a five-step adjustment mechanism, with its angle fine-tuned through professional driver testing at the Nürburgring.

For handling, the GRMN Corolla receives exclusive front and rear monotube shock absorbers with rebound springs to improve inner-wheel traction during cornering and enhance stability at high speeds. Toyota also optimized bump-stop characteristics and shock absorber stroke through Nürburgring testing to improve confidence on uneven and demanding road surfaces. High-grip Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires further support cornering and braking performance.

The steering and all-wheel-drive systems have also been specially tuned. The electric power steering system is calibrated to provide the necessary assist torque even under high cornering forces, while the exclusive 4WD control system improves rear torque distribution during straight-line driving and enhances stability during high-speed steering inputs.

Engine development was informed by Toyota’s experience with the hydrogen-powered GR Corolla in Super Taikyu endurance racing. The GRMN Corolla’s peak torque has been increased to 302 pound-feet, with special focus on improving torque delivery in the 4,000–4,600 rpm range, which is important for accelerating out of corners. An intercooler spray system and cool-air duct help maintain stable engine output during continuous high-load driving.

Inside, the GRMN Corolla continues its driver-first approach with dedicated seats and a flocked instrument panel, creating a focused cockpit environment. To further improve performance and reduce weight, Toyota removed the rear seats, cutting weight by around 66 pounds compared with the base vehicle. This helps improve the power-to-weight ratio and supports a more engaging, track-focused driving experience.

Overall, the 2026 GRMN Corolla represents the ultimate evolution of the GR Corolla, combining motorsport learning, Nürburgring development and lightweight performance engineering to deliver a more intense and capable driving machine.
