Gothenburg, Sweden - Volvo Car AB, an automobile manufacturer, and Geely Auto have signed an MoU to form a new commercial partnership for Lynk & Co in Europe, pending final agreements.
Under this partnership, Volvo Cars is set to become the exclusive importer of Lynk & Co vehicles in Europe, while also taking charge of the brand’s commercial and brand operations across the region to support its expansion plans. The arrangement is also expected to strengthen sales and aftersales opportunities for Volvo Cars’ retail partners.
Volvo Cars plans to sell Lynk & Co models through its retailer network and leverage its existing sales and service infrastructure in selected European markets. This collaboration will also help Volvo Cars expand its product portfolio and reach a wider customer base.
By managing Lynk & Co through Volvo Cars’ central and local commercial operations, the partnership is designed to create operational synergies and improve scale efficiencies within Volvo Cars’ commercial system. Since the two brands cater to different customer groups and market segments, they are seen as strong and complementary partners for collaboration.
Mr.Erik Severinson, chief commercial officer at Volvo Cars, said “With this new arrangement, we will leverage our commercial system to support Lynk & Co’s growth ambitions in Europe, at the same time, it enables Volvo Cars and our retail partners to address a wider customer base. With the support of our retailers and our commercial organisation, Lynk & Co can achieve its true potential in Europe.”
Responsibility for Lynk & Co’s global product development, certification activities, and operations outside Europe will continue to remain with its China-based parent company, Geely Auto Group.
This commercial partnership is expected to help Lynk & Co expand further in Europe by leveraging Volvo Cars’ established retailer network and well-placed service locations. At the same time, Volvo Cars will be able to broaden its market reach and connect with a larger customer base without making additional investments in new products.
The agreement also builds on an existing collaboration, as Volvo Cars and Lynk & Co vehicles are already being sold through shared retail outlets in selected European markets.
