Eskilstuna, Sweden - Volvo Construction Equipment., has started serial production of its A30 Electric and A40 Electric, becoming the first manufacturer in the world to mass-produce electric articulated haulers in this size category.

The production milestone marks a major step in the electrification of heavy construction equipment. Built at Volvo CE’s Braas facility in Sweden, the new machines continue the company’s legacy in articulated hauling while advancing its push toward zero-emission solutions for quarrying and mining applications.

First unveiled at Bauma 2025, the A30 Electric and A40 Electric have received strong customer interest. The machines offer payload capacities of 29 tonnes and 39 tonnes respectively and can operate for up to six hours on a single charge, depending on the application.

The first units will be delivered to customers in the UK and Norway in the coming weeks, with additional deliveries to selected customers across Europe planned for the second half of 2026. Volvo CE said the move supports its long-term strategy to expand its electric equipment portfolio and help customers transition to more sustainable operations.
