Gothenburg, Sweden - Volvo Penta AB., a power generation company, has partnered with Stara., a Brazilian agricultural machinery manufacturer to power its new Hércules 9.0 self-propelled spreader. The machine is equipped with a 9-ton fertilizer hopper, helping operators improve productivity by reducing refill time and increasing uptime in the field.

The Hércules 9.0 is powered by Volvo Penta’s D8 engine, which delivers strong torque at low engine speeds. This allows the machine to operate efficiently at lower RPM, supporting smoother performance, lower fuel consumption and reduced operating costs.

According to Stara, customers using the Hércules 9.0 with the Volvo Penta D8 engine have reported a 10–15% increase in working speed and fuel savings of around 15–20%, depending on terrain conditions.

Volvo Penta Brazil said the D8 engine’s strong and steady torque helps the spreader maintain consistent speed, ensuring even fertilizer distribution. Stara also highlighted the engine’s reliability, robustness, low fuel consumption and reduced noise levels, improving operator comfort inside the cabin.

In 2025, 11 pilot units were delivered to key customers across Brazil for field validation. Following successful testing, serial production has started, with the first customer units scheduled for delivery this month.
