Chennai- India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt Ltd. has announced the price of its first electric scooter, the EC-06, Offered in Bluish White, the scooter will be retailed in select cities through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square outlets. The launch marks Yamaha’s formal entry into India’s electric mobility space and is positioned as part of the company’s sustainability roadmap, aligning with the Government of India’s National Mission on Transformative Mobility and the country’s Net-Zero 2070 vision.

Aimed at urban commuters who want a stylish yet practical EV, the EC-06 delivers a certified 169 km range and carries design cues that blend Yamaha’s core identity with modern proportions for city riding. Its layout emphasizes stability and maneuverability in traffic, while sharp, clean body lines are tailored to appeal to younger riders looking for a distinctive daily-use scooter.

Powering the EC-06 is an IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) paired with a fixed 4kWh battery, producing a top speed of 79 km/h, 26 Nm torque, and 6.7 kW peak power. Yamaha offers a 3-year/30,000 km battery warranty, and charging is designed for convenience with standard home plug-in support taking about 8 hours for a full charge. Durability and safety are strengthened with IP67 certification for the motor and battery and IP65 for other electronics, ensuring strong water and dust resistance for Indian conditions.

To match different riding needs, the EC-06 includes three ride modes Eco, Standard, and Power along with a Reverse Mode for easy low-speed maneuvering. Ride comfort is supported by a telescopic front suspension with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring suspension, tuned for everyday urban roads.

For braking, the scooter features 200mm disc brakes at both ends and a Combi Brake System (CBS) for added stability. A colour LCD display shows speed, battery level, ride modes, and connected functions, while LED headlights and taillights improve visibility and enhance the scooter’s modern look. Connectivity is delivered through the “Yamaha Motor Connect R” app, enabling riders to access real-time information and smart features on the go. Practicality is boosted by 24.5 litres of under-seat storage, offering ample space for a helmet and daily essentials.

Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said the EC-06 represents a major step toward sustainable urban mobility, combining efficiency, performance, and rider-friendly features while supporting India’s broader transition to a greener economy. Yamaha added that the EC-06 rollout is timed to complement the country’s expanding EV ecosystem, supported by initiatives such as PLI and growing charging infrastructure, while emphasizing localization in line with the Make in India and Atmanirbhar vision.
