Date: May 29, 2025
Bengaluru - Zeno, based electric mobility startup Zeno has launched the Emara, which the company claims is India’s first Sport Utility Electric Motorcycle (SUEM). Targeting the vast 100–150cc commuter segment, Emara is designed to combine rugged performance, everyday practicality, and affordability, making it ideal for both urban riders and rural users.
The Emara offers a top speed of 90 kmph and delivers a real-world range of 100 km on a 4 kWh swappable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack—expandable to 8 kWh. Designed for heavy-duty use, it supports a load-carrying capacity of 250 kg, making it suitable for logistics, fleet operations, and daily commutes.
Zeno has announced two flexible pricing models:
-
Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS): Starting at ₹64,000 for early adopters and ₹79,000 under the standard plan.
-
Full Ownership: Priced at ₹1.19 lakh (ex-showroom), with an introductory offer of ₹1.00 lakh for the first 5,000 buyers
Designed with global R&D inputs from teams in San Francisco and Bengaluru, the Emara is being manufactured in Manesar, Haryana, with an initial capacity of 600 units per month. Retail deliveries are expected to begin by end-2025.
Emara is powered by two swappable 2 kWh LFP battery packs, each offering over 3,000 charge cycles, and comes with a bundled home charger. Zeno also unveiled a prototype automated battery-swapping station at the Delhi launch, featuring RFID access and 10 swap slots—a move that signals the startup’s commitment to charging infrastructure.
Zeno will start retail operations in Bengaluru, targeting six flagship stores and over 100 swap stations. Expansion will follow into Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and eventually rural markets.
Backed by Lower Carbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, and Trifecta Capital, Zeno raised $9.5 million in late 2024 and is preparing for a new funding round to support its expansion and scale manufacturing to 50,000–70,000 units annually by the end of 2025.
With ambitions to serve both Indian and international markets, Zeno is positioning itself as a disruptor in the two-wheeler EV space by offering a compelling mix of utility, affordability, and performance in the Emara.
