Date: May 6, 2023Mahububnagar- Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL)., an industrial and automotive battery firm, today held a ceremony for Telangana’s first gigafactory in Mahbubnagar district.
KT Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development; Industries and Commerce and Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications in the Telangana government, attended an event along with Dr. Ramachandra N Galla, the founder of the Amara Raja Group, and Mr. Jayadev Galla, the Chairman & Managing Director of ARBL. Other dignitaries from the government and industry were also present.
During the event, a ground-breaking ceremony was held to mark the beginning of the "Amara Raja Giga Corridor," which aims to produce Lithium Cells and Battery Packs with a total capacity of up to 16GWh and 5GWh, respectively. The project is expected to create direct employment for around 4,500 individuals and a similar number of indirect jobs.

Telangana government recently entered into an MOU with Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies, which has been working on Li-ion cell chemistries specifically suited for Indian conditions
Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of ARBL said that, "The Bhoomi pooja marks a significant milestone in our journey and our strategic step is not just limited to setting up of the Giga Corridor but to provide non migratory jobs to the local youth.
