Woodcliff Lake,United state- BMW Motorrad USA has announced the all-new 2027 BMW F 450 GS, a compact adventure motorcycle designed to deliver authentic GS capability within the 48-hp A2 class. Built on a lightweight, modern platform, the F 450 GS combines approachable performance, premium components, and advanced rider aids to create a machine that feels agile on pavement while remaining confident and controlled off-roadcarrying forward the GS family’s “go anywhere” ethos in a smaller displacement package.

BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch, the F 450 GS is intended to be a straightforward, durable, always-ready companion. Its development focused on low weight, strong real-world performance, and the balanced agility and stability riders associate with BMW’s GS lineup, making it suitable for both daily use and extended adventure riding.

At the heart of the motorcycle is a newly developed 420 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. Featuring a 135-degree crankpin offset and a counter-rotating balance shaft, the engine produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm. Power is delivered through a six-speed transmission, with a chain final drive using an X-ring chain. The GS Trophy variant adds Easy Ride Clutch for reduced lever effort and Gear Shift Assist Pro for quick, clutchless up- and downshifts. The stainless-steel exhaust system, equipped with dual catalytic converters, meets Euro 5+ emissions standards.

Electronics and rider assistance systems are a core part of the F 450 GS package. Standard ride modes include Rain, Road, and Enduro, supported by ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR). With the optional Riding Modes Pro-standard on the GS Trophy variant riders also gain access to Enduro Pro mode for more aggressive off-road riding.

The chassis is built around a newly developed tubular steel frame designed for rigidity and durability. Suspension duties are handled by a KYB 43 mm upside-down front fork and a KYB WAD rear shock mounted to a hollow-cast aluminum swingarm, offering 7.1 inches of travel at both ends. Braking is managed by Brembo components, with a 310 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, fully integrated with ABS Pro and DBC for stability even under hard braking while leaned over.

In terms of design, the F 450 GS clearly carries BMW’s GS DNA into the 400–500 cc segment. Inspired by the larger R 1300 GS, it features the signature GS beak, a distinctive “X” LED headlight motif, and the recognizable GS flyline that flows from the front through the tank and seat into a slim, athletic rear section. BMW Motorrad’s design team aimed to translate the visual identity and functional ergonomics of larger GS models into a more accessible, compact form.

Ergonomics were refined through extensive real-world testing. The rider triangle handlebars, seat, and foot pegs is optimized for comfort on long road rides and control when standing off-road. A 3.6-gallon fuel tank and sculpted bodywork provide strong knee support, while BMW offers a modular approach to touring usability with optional windscreens, protection accessories, and a wide range of luggage solutions.

Comfort and connectivity features are comprehensive for the class. Heated grips, full LED lighting, adjustable hand levers, and a USB-C charging socket are standard. A 6.5-inch TFT color display provides high-density information and integrates smartphone connectivity for calls, media, and navigation via BMW’s app-based solutions, with additional preparation available for dedicated navigation devices.

Seat height options further enhance accessibility. The standard two-piece seat measures 33.3 inches, with an optional low seat at 32.7 inches and a high Rallye seat at 34.0 inches to suit different rider preferences and riding styles.

In the U.S. market, the 2027 BMW F 450 GS is expected to be offered primarily in the Style GS Trophy configuration. This version adds Racing Blue Metallic paint with a white frame, wider off-road foot pegs, hand guards, an aluminum engine guard, cross-spoked wheels, Rallye windshield, sport suspension, Riding Modes Pro with Enduro Pro, Gear Shift Assist Pro, and Easy Ride Clutch. BMW also includes its Ultimate Care Break-In Service for the 2027 model year, covering the 600-mile service within specified limits.

With a curb weight of 393 lb (DIN, road ready), a top speed of 102 mph, and fuel consumption rated at 61.9 mpg (WMTC), the BMW F 450 GS positions itself as a versatile, efficient, and approachable adventure motorcycle-bringing genuine GS capability to riders seeking a lighter, more manageable platform without sacrificing technology or character.
