Hamburg, Germany - The UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2025, held from 15 to 18 June, bringing together key players from across the global mobility ecosystem. With an expected attendance of 10,000 participants, the event serves as a central platform for policy dialogue, product unveilings, and industry networking.

A major focus of the summit is on advancements in bus and coach technologies. Leading manufacturers and suppliers are showcasing innovations in battery-electric, fuel cell, and digital fleet solutions. Companies including BYD, Daimler Buses, Iveco Bus, Solaris, MAN, CaetanoBus, and JBM are unveiling new models or components tailored for urban and intercity operations, underlining the summit’s role in driving the transformation of public transport.

BYD Company Limited., has launched its new B13.b Low Entry intercity bus in Hamburg. The 13.2-meter bus features BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery technology, delivering up to 560 kWh capacity and a 700 km range, with a top speed of 100 km/h. The B13.b accommodates 78 passengers, offering greater capacity than its predecessor, and is designed for both urban and intercity service.

CaetanoBus., a part of Toyota Caetano Portugal and Mitsui & Cohas.,  previewed a new generation of BEV and FCEV buses, developed in collaboration with CRRC. Spanning lengths from 8.5m to 18m, the lineup includes a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) version. CRRC, known for its rail dominance, also supports CaetanoBus in markets like Hungary through its partnership with Ikarus.

Mercedes-Benz., features a eCitaro 4th generation NMC battery sourced from Polish supplier BMZ, replacing BorgWarner’s NMC3. Shown for the first time at UITP 2025, the eCitaro solo two-door model incorporates high energy density for extended range and a longer lifecycle with charging capacities up to 300 kW. The new batteries will roll out across the eCitaro, eCitaro G, and eCitaro K from 2026.

Hayden AI., showcases its automated bus lane enforcement system, currently deployed across hundreds of U.S. transit systems. The tech, which improves bus speeds by 5% and cuts collisions by 30%, is being piloted in Tallinn, Estonia, marking its European entry.

Iveco Bus., presents the E-WAY 12-meter electric bus and a suite of digital offerings including IVECO ON for connected fleet management and Energy Mobility Solutions for electrification projects. An immersive mixed reality experience allows attendees to explore E-WAY and Crossway LE Elec models.

Isuzu., showcases Citivolt and Novociti Volt

  • The Citivolt 12.03m low-floor bus, with up to 495 kWh CATL NMC batteries and ZF AVE 130 axle.
  • The Novociti Volt midibus (7.96m), with LFP batteries and a TM4 central motor, offering a more compact urban solution.

India’s JBM Auto debuts its Ecolife e-bus tailored for European cities, with up to 400 km range and ultra-fast charging. Built to VDV and EU standards, this model underscores JBM’s EU ambitions, further supported by its Frankfurt HQ and partnership with KazenMaier for leasing. A new e-coach is expected at Busworld 2025.

Higer Bus., in partnership with Scania, showcases the Fencer F1 EV—a 12.5-meter low-floor battery bus for Germany, equipped with 440 kWh CATL LFP batteries and a central motor, targeting urban fleets in Europe.

MAN Truck & Bus., premieres the 2025 model of the Lion’s City E, featuring new in-house developed battery packs produced in Nuremberg. With production set to scale to 50,000 packs annually, the BatteryPack will phase into all Lion’s City E variants starting Q4 2025.

Masats., introduces its RE2b extra-wide ramp, 029g2 electric door for reduced weight and larger passage width, and the RD1 dual ramp for redundancy. Masats' Marc Ball-Llosera contributes to UITP’s discussions on inclusive design in transport.

MCV., shows its C107EV (10.6m) and C127EV (12m) models. The smaller bus, launched at Mobility Move 2025, features Forsee Power batteries with 385 kWh capacity and a lightweight frame reducing weight by 400 kg.

Solaris., displays the Urbino 12 electric with a modular drive system and all batteries placed on the roof, boosting interior space. It boasts a 600+ km range and meets GSR2 safety standards, earning the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 (Urban category).

ZF Friedrichshafen launches:

  • CeTrax 2: A central electric motor with 210 kW and 8,720 Nm for heavy-duty buses.
  • AxTrax 2 LF: A next-gen low-floor e-axle with 20% better energy efficiency.
Other innovations include the e-comp Scroll air compressor and the Citybus CMS collision mitigation system. ZF also promotes its Bus Connect digital telematics platform.

As the UITP Summit 2025 continued in Hamburg, it is clear the push toward electrification, digitalization, and inclusive design remains a top priority. With dozens of new vehicle and component debuts, and global partnerships forming across continents, the summit is not just a reflection of today’s mobility sector, it’s a vision of where it’s heading next.Top of Form
