Buenos Aires, Argentina- FPT Industrial s.p.a., has powered New Holland’s agricultural vehicle which uses gas collected from organic and livestock waste, allowing optimal performance and being respectful of the environment. The biomethane tractor that was recently launched in Argentina.

This agricultural vehicle is powered by biomethane, a biofuel gas obtained by purifying biogas generated by the decomposition of both organic matter in general and residues resulting from agricultural activities, such as pig farming, sugar cane, and livestock. vaccine and dairy, among others.

The tractor features a 6.7 liter NEF series engine powered by renewable gas, with a maximum output of 180 hp, which eliminates the use of fossil fuels and significantly reduces operating costs while offering high performance and efficiency, and more sustainability.

Under real agricultural work conditions, emissions are reduced by 80% on average compared to a standard diesel engine. CO2 emissions are reduced by a minimum of 10% compared to a standard diesel tractor. The engine achieves near-zero net carbon emissions when running on biomethane, enabling circular ecosystems in agriculture.

With the launch of this engine in Argentina, FPT, in collaboration with New Holland Agriculture, promotes a new biomethane ecosystem to drive a sustainable future.

With this process, waste products such as manure have also become valuable sources of fuel. In addition to being cleaner to handle during refueling and engine combustion, biomethane is renewable and readily available, allowing farmers to start reducing their CO2 footprint immediately while powering their tractors, motor pumps, generators, etc. energy and vehicles.

In other words, this technology not only contributes to environmental protection, but is also an economical alternative: by using biomethane instead of fossil fuels, the agricultural sector reduces operating costs and promotes energy self-sufficiency.

In addition, with the commercialization of this product, Argentina has the possibility of continuing to implement the use of renewable energies. In this sense, FPT Industrial offers Argentine farmers the opportunity to be pioneers in the adoption of more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

FPT Industrial applies these same principles in the different countries where it operates. In Italy, for example, it partnered with Fontanafredda winery to achieve the first zero-emission Barolo wine vintage by 2025, where New Holland TK crawler tractors are powered by the F28 NG engine running on methane or diesel fuel.

Marco Rangel, President of FPT Industrial for Latin America said, "Power generation from biomethane is a highly advantageous alternative that increases productivity and reduces operating costs. FPT Industrial's gas engines offer all the advantages of traditional thermal engines, and because they are powered by biomethane, they involve a renewable fuel that is generated from organic waste, or even from agricultural activity itsel promotes self-sufficiency while reducing CO2. emissions to virtually zero."

The implementation of biomethane technology offers multiple benefits. It gives the company the opportunity to produce its own sustainable fuel, reduces the carbon footprint and provides productive use of waste that would otherwise go to waste.
