Pune - ZF Friedrichshafen AG., a driveline and chassis technology company, has begun production of its Electric Park Brake (EPB) system in India. The system is featured on a newly launched electric vehicle from a leading Indian passenger car OEM, marking ZF’s first-ever EPB production for the country’s passenger vehicle market.

This milestone supports ZF’s “Make in India for India and the World” vision, with plans to supply thousands of EPB units in the coming years. Designed for better efficiency and lower NVH, the EPB also offers advanced functions like dynamic actuation, brake pad wear sensing, and emergency stops, thanks to its modular design suited for various vehicle types.

Mr. Akash Passey, President ZF Group in India, said, “The SOP of ZF’s first Electric Park Brake in India, on a product like the all-new EV car platform, embodies ZF’s commitment to offer leading mobility solutions for local requirements. With advanced systems like the EPB, we are not only enhancing vehicle safety and performance but also supporting Indian auto makers in providing world class and safe products in India.”

Globally, ZF has produced over 250 million EPB callipers and remains at the forefront of braking innovation. The company offers a comprehensive range of purely electronic steering, brake, and damping systems to support the next generation of software-defined vehicles.

With this new EPB production, ZF further deepens its presence in India, bringing globally benchmarked technologies to the country’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle sector.
