Garden Grove, California- Harbinger Motors Inc., a manufacturer of medium-duty electric and hybrid-electric vehicles, has announced the official availability of its vehicle lineup across all provinces and territories in Canada. Orders are now being accepted through Safetek Specialty Vehicles, Harbinger’s exclusive Canadian dealer, as the company accelerates efforts to expand its national distribution network.

Built on Harbinger’s proprietary electric vehicle chassis platform, the company’s medium-duty models are designed for a wide range of applications, including walk-in vans, box trucks, RVs, delivery vehicles, and emergency response units. The first models available in Canada will be electric step vans, with additional vehicle variants to follow.

The Canadian electric truck market valued at CAD $15.8 billion in 2024 is projected to nearly triple to CAD $40.8 billion by 2030, driven by strong federal mandates and incentives for zero-emission transportation.

Mr. John Harris, CEO of Harbinger, said, “The industry’s response to Harbinger vehicles reflects a strong demand for durable, affordable, and sustainable fleet solutions. With Canada’s ambitious EV targets, our vehicles enable businesses to meet regulatory goals while delivering best-in-class medium-duty performance.”

Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) strategy mandates that electric models represent 35% of new medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sales by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Federal incentives under the iMHZEV program provide up to $75,000 per Class 4–5 vehicle and $100,000 for Class 6, with additional provincial programs in British Columbia and Quebec offering further funding.

Mr. Phillip Weicker, Co-Founder and CTO of Harbinger, said, “As a Canadian who has spent my career in automotive and EV innovation, seeing Harbinger vehicles sold here is a personal milestone. Our goal was always to build the best medium-duty vehicles and they just happen to be electric.”

Harbinger’s vehicles are purpose-built from the ground up for electric propulsion and the demanding needs of the medium-duty segment. Every component including the powertrain, battery system, steering, and brakes is designed and manufactured in-house, ensuring optimal performance, lower costs, and long-term reliability.

The company’s electric chassis underwent extensive cold-weather testing in New Zealand, validating performance and safety in harsh winter conditions common across Canada.

Harbinger’s vehicles offer a lower total cost of ownership with reduced maintenance and energy use. They come with an industry-leading warranty five years for the full vehicle and ten years for the battery, motor, and frame. The modular design includes three wheelbases (158”, 178”, 208”) and battery options delivering 225–338 km range. With 13,400 lb-ft torque and a 12.8 m turning radius, the vehicles provide strong performance and exceptional handling.

Harbinger estimates that fully electric models meet the operational needs of 80% of medium-duty fleets, particularly those with predictable, single-shift routes and overnight depot charging. For fleets requiring longer range, Harbinger offers a plug-in hybrid variant featuring a gas-powered range extender that recharges the battery on the go, providing up to 804 km (500 miles) of total range.

Third-party upfitters Morgan Olson and Utilimaster will equip Harbinger chassis with specialized bodies for various commercial applications.

By combining vertical integration, cutting-edge electric technology, and flexible configurations, Harbinger delivers vehicles purpose-built for modern logistics, municipal operations, and fleet electrification.

“Harbinger isn’t just electrifying existing platforms we’re redefining the medium-duty segment,” added Harris. “Our entry into Canada marks another step toward a cleaner, more efficient commercial transport future.”
