Yokohama, Japan- Isuzu Motors Limited., has started supplying its newly developed “Kuzer” light-duty trucks to UD Trucks Corporation, an Isuzu Group company headquartered in Ageo, Saitama, Japan. Since June, UD Trucks has transitioned to the new Kuzer, now manufactured by Isuzu, and has launched sales in Malaysia. This marks a key milestone in the growing product collaboration between Isuzu and UD Trucks, which began in 2023 and continues to strengthen through enhanced synergies.
The new Kuzer is a light-duty truck designed for international markets, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 7.5 or 8.5 tons. Based on Isuzu’s N Series (known as ELF in Japan), it offers a compact yet durable platform that meets customer demands for greater payload capacity through chassis weight reduction. The vehicle is powered by Isuzu’s efficient and eco-friendly 4HK1-TCN engine, which delivers strong fuel economy and improved environmental performance.
Safety has been significantly enhanced in the new Kuzer, which now comes standard with features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR), SRS airbags, and LED headlamps. For added security and driver comfort, it includes a built-in immobilizer, remote keyless entry with central locking, and improved in-cabin storage options.
To ensure a smooth transition for current Kuzer users, the new model maintains UD Trucks’ familiar design identity, preserving visual continuity and brand recognition. This initiative supports Isuzu Group’s mid-term business strategy, “ISUZU Transformation - Growth to 2030 (IX),” announced in April last year. Under this plan, Isuzu aims to leverage the combined strengths of both companies—technology, global reach, and brand trust—to expand its customer base and evolve into a commercial mobility solutions provider that addresses societal and operational challenges.
