Italy, Europe - After three years of decline, the Italian tractor market is showing signs of recovery. According to FederUnacoma, based on Ministry of Transport data, 17,573 tractors were registered in 2025, marking a 13.7% increase and offsetting the 2024 low of 15,450 units.
FederUnacoma President Mariateresa Maschio attributed the rebound to government support and incentives, including the ISMEA Innovation Fund, ISI INAIL safety grants, the 4.0 and 5.0 tax credits, and EU-backed Rural Development Plans (PSR), which provide consistent support for farm modernization.
While the first half of 2025 saw slower sales, the sector gained momentum in the second half, particularly in the final quarter. Tractor transporters saw the strongest growth with a 45.7% increase to 771 units, while telehandlers rose 18.2% to 1,216 units. Trailer registrations grew modestly by just over 4% to 7,812 units. Combine harvesters remained in decline, closing the year down 12% with 234 units.
FederUnacoma Director General Simona Rapastella highlighted the potential impact of continued incentives in 2026, announced by Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, in sustaining market recovery. She also noted that the upcoming EIMA International exhibition in November will provide a key opportunity to gauge demand for new technologies across machinery, equipment, and components.
