Turin, Italy- IVECO BUS, a brand under Iveco Group N.V., has been selected by the OTW the public Transport Operator of Wallonia to supply 127 units of CROSSWAY Low Entry buses. This new contract strengthens the ongoing collaboration between IVECO BUS and OTW, marking the third agreement in just two years. The new buses will be deployed across the Liège and Namur regions in two phases: 83 units will be delivered starting in the first quarter of 2026, followed by an additional 44 units in the first quarter of 2027.
This order follows previous contracts signed in 2023, which included frame agreements for 22 DAILY minibuses and 42 CROSSWAY Low Entry Hybrid vehicles. With this renewed partnership, OTW continues to invest in enhancing passenger mobility and comfort while meeting regional transport needs through its TEC (Transport en Commun) brand.
The CROSSWAY Low Entry buses, each 12 meters long, are designed for optimal urban and suburban transport. They offer a high capacity of up to 99 passengers, including 37 seated, plus the driver. These buses prioritize comfort and convenience, featuring air conditioning, high-comfort seats with integrated USB ports, passenger information screens, luggage racks, and a modern, ergonomic driver's cockpit that enhances both safety and usability.
Accessibility is a key focus of the design. The low floor between the front and middle doors, combined with a sliding external “tram-type” door, allows easy boarding and exit for all passengers, including those with limited mobility.
Powering the CROSSWAY Low Entry buses is the 360 hp Cursor 9 engine, which is compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), making it a more sustainable option. Paired with a Voith automatic gearbox, the powertrain ensures reliable performance, fuel efficiency, and reduced environmental impact.
This order further underlines IVECO BUS’s commitment to supporting modern, efficient, and sustainable public transport solutions across Europe.
Mr. Christophe MARTIN, OTW’s rolling stock manager, said, “These buses will operate on suburban routes, where passengers spend more time onboard. Therefore, features that enhance passenger comfort—such as thermal comfort, low noise levels, a high number of seats, attractive aesthetics, and ease of use for all customers—are particularly important. Safety, ergonomics, and comfort for drivers and technicians are of utmost importance. Last but not least, energy efficiency was a key factor in this decision.”
Mr. Giorgio ZINO, IVECO BUS Head of Bus Commercial Operations in Europe, said, "We are pleased with this new collaboration with OTW and would like to thank them for their trust in our models. These CROSSWAY Low Entry vehicles, which will soon join OTW's fleet, perfectly address the current challenges of passenger mobility, offering a safe and comfortable travel experience."
