Las Vegas, USA - JLG Industries., a construction equipment manufacturer, has debuted its prototype 1043T Quad-Track Telehandler at World of Concrete 2026, designed to enhance performance in demanding jobsite conditions.

Targeted at general construction and specialized applications, the 1043T concept is engineered to deliver improved traction, flotation, and maneuverability on loose soil, muddy terrain, and steep inclines. According to JLG, the machine could be particularly useful for projects such as below-grade foundation restoration, heavy civil construction, and deep sheeting and shoring work.

The prototype is powered by the same Cummins 3.8-liter diesel engine used in the standard 1043 model, but output has been increased from 114 horsepower to 127 horsepower. John Boehme, Senior Product Manager at JLG, noted that the machine features upgraded axles supplied by Dana Inc. To optimize performance and weight distribution, the outriggers and counterweight have been removed, resulting in a machine that is only about 1,100 pounds heavier than the conventional 1043, with the track system offsetting some of the weight reduction.

JLG has also introduced several enhancements to the operator environment. The cab now includes a new multi-function display, a multi-view reverse camera system, an updated joystick, and redesigned dashboard switch banks aimed at improving usability and operator awareness.

Displacement remains a critical factor in the telehandler’s capability to operate in challenging environments. Boehme explained that while a typical 10,000-pound telehandler exerts around 100 to 115 pounds per square inch (psi) of ground pressure, the tracked 1043T reduces this to roughly 75 psi, making it significantly more effective in rough, swampy, or unstable ground conditions.

The prototype underscores JLG’s focus on advancing equipment solutions for complex construction environments, though the company has not yet announced commercialization timelines for the 1043T.
