Moline, Illinois – Deere & Company., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has appointed Brian Sikes, board chair and chief executive officer of Cargill, to its board of directors, strengthening the company’s leadership with deep global agribusiness expertise.

Welcoming the appointment, Deere & Company chairman and CEO John C. May said Sikes brings decades of experience across the agricultural value chain and a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, which will support Deere’s strategy of delivering smarter, more sustainable solutions for farmers worldwide.

Sikes joined Cargill in 1991 and has held a wide range of leadership roles across its protein, food ingredients, and agricultural supply chain businesses. He became Cargill’s president and CEO in 2023 and was named board chair in 2024, overseeing operations in more than 70 countries. Throughout his career, he has championed initiatives focused on supply chain efficiency, responsible resource management, and the use of technology to drive long-term industry value.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University. Following Sikes’ appointment, Deere’s board now comprises 11 members, including 10 independent, non-employee directors.
