Bulle, Switzerland - LIEBHERR-INTERNATIONAL AG., a heavy machinery manufacturer, has expanded its deep foundation equipment portfolio with the launch of the LMC 80 cutter soil mixer, designed for noise-reduced and low-vibration ground improvement applications.
The new LMC 80 is compatible with Liebherr’s LRB 23 and LRB 355 piling and drilling rigs, offering customers a complete soil mixing solution from a single source. The machine can be used across different mixable soil types to create load-bearing or sealing elements for ground improvement projects.
The mixing cutter is equipped with four cutting wheels, driven by a maximum torque of 2 x 80 kNm, and can reach rotational speeds of up to 30 rpm depending on ground conditions. With the LRB 23, the LMC 80 can produce mixing elements up to 36 metres deep, while the LRB 355 can reach depths of up to 40 metres.
The system can create panels with cross sections ranging from 2,800 x 500 mm to 2,800 x 1,000 mm, depending on project requirements. For added flexibility, the LMC 80 can swivel 135 degrees around the mixing axis without moving the leader.
The LMC 80 is mounted while lying flat, improving safety and reducing setup time by avoiding work at height. The carrier machine’s crowd winch then lifts the mixing unit into working position. The LRB 23 and LRB 355 can also be converted for other piling or drilling applications by replacing the mixing tool with a rotary drive, hammer or vibrator.
According to Liebherr, cutter soil mixing offers environmental and economic benefits, as fewer building materials are required and excavated material does not need to be transported. The existing soil is mixed directly with binding suspension, reducing site logistics.
The LMC 80 was presented during the 50th anniversary of Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH in June 2026 and is now available.
