Indiana, US - Mack Trucks, Inc., a commercial trucks manufacturer, partnership with Terex Utilities, Inc., a bucket trucks manufacturer, introduces its first fully electric bucket truck. This next-generation solution will debut at NTEA Work Truck Week at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
The partnership integrates Mack’s advanced electric MD7 chassis with Terex’s Optima HR55 aerial device, powered by the HyPower SmartPTO, enhancing payload capacity and range for utility fleet operations.
Preliminary testing shows that the Terex all-electric bucket truck, built on the Mack MD7 electric chassis, offers up to 1.5 times the range of other Class 6/7 medium-duty electric chassis bucket trucks, along with double the rear axle payload capacity. The Terex aerial device operates independently of the Mack MD7 electric chassis, reducing range anxiety and enabling utility crews to use the boom and outriggers throughout a full workday without depleting the chassis battery.
The all-electric truck features the state-of-the-art 3rd Eye digital platform, which integrates advanced camera systems, AI, and cutting-edge technology to enhance safety and efficiency. Equipped with up to six HD cameras displayed on a large 7-inch in-cab monitor, the system offers a real-time, 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings, minimizing blind spots when reversing, changing lanes, or navigating tight and high-traffic areas.
Mr. George Fotopoulos, Vice president of E-mobility at Mack Trucks, said, "This electric bucket truck represents the next natural step in our commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. Our lightweight electric chassis provides the capability to handle more demanding applications, and when combined with Terex's expertise in utility equipment, we're delivering a solution that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in zero tailpipe emissions utility vehicles."
Mr. Tyler Schwingler, Product marketing manager at Terex Utilities, said, "Our collaboration with Mack Trucks represents continued movement forward in zero tailpipe emissions utility vehicles. By combining our industry-leading Optima HR55 aerial device with Mack's innovative MDe7 chassis, we're providing utility companies with a solution that doesn't compromise on performance or capability while meeting their sustainability goals."
