Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland- Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., has secured a groundbreaking contract with transport operator AMT Genova in Italy. The deal, valued at over €100 million, entails the delivery of an impressive fleet comprising 112 units of the Solaris Trollino 18, making it one of the largest single orders for articulated trolleybuses in the manufacturer's history.

Alberto Fiore, Managing Director of Solaris Italia, expressed pride in the company's extensive experience, having previously delivered 30 modern electric buses to Genoa just over a year ago. This time, AMT Genova has opted for the Trollino 18 trolleybuses, a proven and well-regarded solution in the capital of Liguria.

Noteworthy in this purchase is the inclusion of traction batteries alongside traditional electric propulsion, enabling the trolleybuses to cover significant distances without relying on the overhead traction system. The incorporation of In-Motion-Charging (IMC) technology ensures a continuous energy supply, with batteries being replenished both during operation and at the depot.

Genoa's commitment to enhancing its public transport infrastructure is evident in this substantial order and concurrent investments in a new trolleybus line. This aligns with broader plans set by the Italian carrier, aiming for a complete transition to a fully electric urban fleet by 2025.

The collaboration between Solaris and AMT Genova dates back to 2013, with a significant order for 30 electric buses delivered in 2022. With the latest contract for 112 Trollino 18 buses, Genoa is poised to become a major adopter of Solaris trolleybuses, contributing to the city's sustainable and forward-looking public transportation initiatives.
