MULHOUSE, France – Stellantis N.V., an automotive manufacturer, has announced an investment of more than €1 billion in France to support the production of three future Peugeot C-segment models. These new vehicles will be offered with electric and hybrid powertrains and will be based on the new STLA One platform. Production will take place at the Mulhouse industrial site in Alsace from 2029.
The investment will support both the development of the STLA One modular platform in France and the industrial preparation required to manufacture the three new Peugeot models at Mulhouse.
This move is part of Stellantis’ FaSTLAne 2030 strategic plan, announced on May 21, 2026. The plan focuses on developing new global platforms, powertrains and technologies. STLA One is a modular and scalable architecture designed to support multiple vehicle sizes and powertrain options, while helping reduce development time and improve cost efficiency through large-scale simplification.
The upcoming Peugeot C-segment models will be available as fully electric or hybrid vehicles. These launches are important for Stellantis because Peugeot is one of the company’s key global brands with strong volume and profitability potential. Peugeot will also be the first brand to introduce the STLA One platform, which is planned for wider global use.
The investment also supports Stellantis’ European strategy, as the C-segment accounts for around 30% of total car sales in Europe. By strengthening Peugeot’s presence in this important segment, Stellantis aims to improve its market coverage and competitiveness across the region.
Producing these models in Mulhouse from 2029 highlights Stellantis’ focus on combining electrification with strong industrial performance in France. The investment will improve capacity utilization at the Mulhouse plant, which employs around 4,500 people, and will provide long-term stability for the site during a major transformation period in the automotive industry.
Stellantis also acknowledged the French government’s support for clean mobility, including policies that encourage the purchase of low-emission vehicles and promote competitive industrial development in France and Europe. The company said these policies have helped create favorable conditions for the investment.
Mr. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, said “I am very pleased to announce these investments in France for the production in Mulhouse of three 100% electric and hybrid models from the Peugeot brand. This decision attests to the professionalism and exceptional commitment of our teams, France perfectly exemplifies Stellantis’ global strategy, presented in our FaSTLAne 2030 plan, where our global scale, our in-depth local knowledge, and our brands come together to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”
