Eskilstuna, Sweden - Volvo Construction Equipment., a construction equipment manufacturer, has previewed its new 56-ton EC560 excavator, featuring a 6-cubic-yard bucket that the company says offers the largest bucket capacity in its class.
The EC560 joins Volvo CE’s next-generation excavator lineup, which represents the company’s biggest excavator redesign in two decades. Designed for heavy infrastructure, quarrying, aggregates and construction applications, the machine is built to deliver high production capacity with improved operator comfort and fuel efficiency.
According to Volvo, the EC560 responds to customer demand for a large excavator that combines power, precision and efficiency. The model features upgrades introduced across Volvo’s next-generation large excavators, including a redesigned cab, new seat, improved ventilation and enhanced comfort-focused features.
The excavator also uses an electro-hydraulic system with an upgraded main control valve. Electronic sensors track operator movements and send signals to the onboard computer, which then controls hydraulic functions for smoother and more precise boom, bucket and digging operations.
Volvo says the EC560 can automatically adjust engine speed and hydraulic flow based on the task, helping improve fuel efficiency during demanding work cycles.
