Australia – Volvo trucks., Linfox, a global transport and logistics company headquartered in Australia, has placed an order with Volvo for 30 heavy-duty electric trucks—the largest battery-electric truck order in Australia to date.

The order aligns with the start of electric truck production at Volvo’s Wacol facility in Brisbane in 2026, where some of the Linfox trucks will be assembled. This expansion means Volvo electric trucks will be manufactured in five factories worldwide: three in Europe, one in the US, and one in Australia.

Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks., Said “We are very proud to continue our close partnership with Linfox. The order for 30 Volvo electric trucks is proof of their trust in our company and in zero-emissions transport as a viable solution here and now,”  “Our commitment to start building electric trucks in Australia demonstrates our confidence in this technology, and means we can offer an industry-leading range of purpose-built electric trucks all around the world.”

The Linfox order consists of 29 Volvo FH Electric trucks and one FM Electric truck. Currently, Linfox operates four electric Volvo trucks in its fleet. In addition, the company has placed orders for a total of 195 Volvo FH and FM trucks with conventional drivetrains.

Peter Fox AM (Member of the Order of Australia), Executive Chairman of Linfox, commented, Said “Linfox is excited to partner with Volvo in driving the future and leading sustainable logistics in Australia. Further electrifying our fleet sets the standard for us and our customers and the entire industry.”

      5,000 Electric Trucks Delivered Worldwide

Volvo Trucks is a global leader in electric transportation, having delivered over 5,000 electric trucks to customers across 50 countries. Its current electric lineup includes eight models designed for diverse applications such as city and regional distribution, construction, and refuse collection. In 2024, Volvo held a 47% market share in the European electric heavy truck segment (16 tonnes and above) and maintained a leading position in North America.

Volvo’s Three-Path Strategy to Zero Emissions

To achieve its net-zero emissions goal by 2040, Volvo Trucks employs a three-path technology strategy focusing on battery-electric, fuel cell-electric, and combustion engines powered by renewable fuels. These renewable options include green hydrogen—produced via renewable electricity-powered water splitting—biogas (Bio-LNG), biodiesel, and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), driving the company’s commitment to decarbonizing transport.
