Munich, Germany- MAN Truck & Bus SE., automotive manufacturer, has begun operating fully electric inbound logistics with the deployment of the first MAN eTGX trucks in cooperation with logistics partner Kloiber GmbH, marking a significant step in the decarbonisation of its supply chains.

The first of a total of 15 MAN eTrucks has now entered regular service on inbound routes between MAN’s plants in Nuremberg and Munich. Each round trip covers around 328 kilometres, with the vehicles completing four to six round trips per day and covering between 1,300 and 1,900 kilometres daily. When powered with 100 percent green electricity, the locally emission-free operation enables CO₂ savings of up to 566 tonnes per year. Further expansion of the electric transport partnership between MAN and Kloiber is already planned and will be rolled out step by step.

In MAN’s inbound logistics network, trucks travel up to 165 million kilometres annually, making each electrified route a direct contribution to reducing emissions across transport chains. MAN is therefore consistently transitioning its own logistics operations towards zero-emission drivetrains. Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board of MAN Truck & Bus responsible for Production and Logistics, emphasised that electrifying supply chains is central to MAN’s sustainability strategy, noting that live operations clearly demonstrate the performance, efficiency, and practicality of the MAN eTGX.

To support electric operations, MAN has expanded charging infrastructure at its plants in Nuremberg and Munich, enabling fast charging close to unloading points. Four high-performance charging stations with up to 400 kW capacity have also been installed at the MAN service centre in Munich-Karlsfeld, designed to accommodate articulated trucks and trailers. In addition, the Dachau plant has been equipped with suitable charging facilities.

Complementing this network, Kloiber has built and commissioned its own commercial-vehicle charging park in Petershausen near Dachau. The site features 10 charging points, each delivering up to 500 kW, further strengthening the reliability of electric inbound transport.

According to Ferdinand Kloiber, Managing Director of Kloiber GmbH, electric mobility is the future of transport logistics. With the MAN eTGX and the new charging park, the company is combining sustainability with operational reliability while actively supporting MAN’s inbound logistics decarbonisation.

The fully electric MAN eTGX in its ultra-low liner configuration is particularly suited for automotive logistics. With a fifth-wheel height of just 950 mm and a short 3.75-metre wheelbase, it enables maximum loading volume with interior heights of up to three metres.
