Hiroshima, Japan- Mazda Motor Corporation., has officially unveiled the all-new Mazda CX-5 through its European division, Mazda Motor Europe, on July 10, 2025. This marks the debut of the third generation of the popular crossover SUV, which has played a key role in Mazda’s global success.
First launched in 2012, the Mazda CX-5 was the brand’s first model to fully adopt the “KODO Soul of Motion” design philosophy and SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, offering a balance of driving performance and environmental efficiency. Since then, the CX-5 has become Mazda’s best-selling model globally, with over 4.5 million units sold across more than 100 countries and regions.
The third-generation CX-5 has been developed under the concept of “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort,” aiming to create a more emotionally engaging and comfortable vehicle for everyday use. The new model retains the sporty, elegant styling and driver-focused “Jinba-Ittai” experience of its predecessors, while evolving in design, usability, and interior refinement.
Major improvements include enhanced ride comfort, interior space, and quietness, making the new CX-5 suitable for various daily activities such as shopping, commuting, and family trips. The model also features an all-new Human Machine Interface (HMI), improved connectivity with new app integration, and advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) for increased safety, convenience, and driving enjoyment.
The European version of the new CX-5 will be powered by a 2.5-liter e-SKYACTIV G petrol engine, paired with Mazda’s M Hybrid mild hybrid system for better fuel economy and smoother driving. It comes with a 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission and features MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. The SUV will offer seating for five passengers.

The new Mazda CX-5 measures 4,690 mm (L) x 1,860 mm (W) x 1,695 mm (H) and seats five passengers. It is powered by a 2.5L e-SKYACTIV G petrol engine with Mazda M Hybrid, paired with a 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission. The suspension setup includes MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link system at the rear.
Mazda plans to launch the new CX-5 in European showrooms by the end of 2025, with availability in other global markets following in 2026. The company also confirmed the upcoming introduction of SKYACTIV-Z, its next-generation combustion engine technology, combined with a new proprietary hybrid system, by 2027.
