Warwickshire, UK – KTM has officially pulled the wraps off the heavily updated 2026 690 Enduro R at the 2025 Adventure Bike Rider Festival, marking a bold step forward for one of the brand’s most iconic dual-sport machines. The new model brings sweeping mechanical revisions, improved tech, and rider-centric refinements designed to elevate both trail and tarmac performance.
Big Changes to the Big Single
At the heart of the new 690 Enduro R is a thoroughly revised version of KTM’s legendary LC4 single-cylinder engine. KTM says over 50% of internal components have been updated or redesigned, with a focus on boosting torque and refining reliability. While full power figures are yet to be confirmed, the company has stated the new bike delivers more torque than the outgoing model's 73.5 Nm, promising stronger low-end pull for technical off-road riding.
Sharper Handling and Comfort
The 2026 model sees subtle but meaningful updates to its chassis and ergonomics. While KTM retains the proven trellis frame and WP XPLOR suspension, tweaks to rigidity and layout aim to enhance feel, control, and rider comfort—both standing on the pegs and seated on the road.
New TFT Dash and Ride Modes
One of the most visible changes is the switch from a basic LCD to a new 4.2-inch TFT display, giving riders clearer visibility and access to key functions. Bluetooth connectivity is now standard, offering turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call handling, and bike status monitoring. A USB-C charging port has also been added for convenience.
The 690 Enduro R now comes with advanced rider aids, including:
- Cornering ABS
- Cornering traction control
- Selectable ride modes: Street, Sport, and an optional Rally mode for aggressive off-road control.
Smarter Controls
Riders will also benefit from redesigned switchgear, featuring backlit buttons for nighttime visibility and a new dedicated ABS-off button on the left-hand cluster, making trail transitions quicker and safer.
Global Release Timeline
While full technical specifications and pricing will be revealed later in 2025, KTM has confirmed that the 2026 690 Enduro R will begin reaching dealerships worldwide in early 2026. Display models have already made the rounds at European festivals, drawing strong interest from dual-sport enthusiasts.
