Mumbai- Tata Motors Limited., has officially announced the name of its new TGDi turbo petrol engine, Hyperion. The Hyperion engine, first showcased at the Auto Expo in 2023, will make its world debut with the Curvv. The all-electric Curvv is set to be unveiled on August 7th, with the ICE model slated for release later this year.

The new Hyperion engine, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit, marks Tata Motors' second turbo petrol powertrain, following the 1.2-litre turbo petrol Revotron engine. This 1198 cc 3-cylinder turbo engine delivers 123 bhp at 5000 rpm and 225 Nm of torque between 1700-3500 rpm, outperforming the Revotron engine's 118 bhp and 170 Nm by 5 bhp and 55 Nm, respectively. This performance boost is crucial for the Curvv, a midsize SUV larger than the Nexon.

Made of lightweight aluminum, the Hyperion engine features water-cooled variable geometry, enhancing responsive low-end torque. Tata Motors emphasizes that the engine is designed to be quieter and more refined than the Revotron motor.
