ACMA successfully hosted the 63rd edition of its annual session under the theme ‘Mobility 360O – Sustainability for Competitiveness’
Date: September 16, 2023New Delhi- The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA)., an Indian auto component industry successfully hosted the 63rd edition of its annual session under the theme ‘Mobility 360O – Sustainability for Competitiveness’.
Dignitaries from the Government, and Industry including, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, Shri. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Government of India, Mr. Amitabh Kant, Hon’ble Sherpa G-20, Dr. Pawan K. Goenka, Chairman SCALE Committee & Chairman, INSPACE, Dept. of Space, Government of India, Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, President, SIAM and MD & CEO, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, and Mr. Hemant Sikka, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, graced the Annual Session.
A joint research report by ACMA and McKinsey & Co. was also unveiled at the occasion, with the topic "Mobility 360° - Sustainability for competitiveness." The study delves deeply into the rising significance of sustainability, energy decarbonization, material circularity, and the requirement for affordable substitutes. The research also emphasizes how India's goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2070 may be significantly advanced by the automotive and auto auxiliary industry while also creating more value and growth.
Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, said that, With its inherent competitiveness and creativity, the auto component sector is a key driver of India's progress, embracing new chances on the international stage. It is genuinely admirable how the sector is embracing electrification, technology, digitization, and a variety of alternative fuels to create a potent engine that will reshape the nation's mobility landscape.
Shri. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, said that , It is encouraging to see the ACMA's efforts to promote localization, build a strong automotive supply chain, and increase competitiveness. The Indian automotive ecosystem has the ability to be more sustainable and define the industry on a global level. The key companies in the sector are successfully advancing tech-led innovation supported by a supportive business climate to achieve worldwide prominence.
Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Government of India, said that, "Thanks to the government's supportive policies, India has the capacity to completely transform the current state of global mobility. It is incredibly admirable to see the Indian car component sector grow into a significant player influencing the direction of mobility toward a greener and more effective future. India is creating new chapters in the history of excellence and competitiveness on the world stage thanks to tight cooperation between the government and key companies in the sector.
Shri Amitabh Kant, Hon’ble Sherpa G-20, said that, "Now that India has successfully presided over the G20 meeting, all eyes are on it to lead the charter for global sustainability and excellence. I think manufacturing, and the market for car parts in particular, will be a major factor in determining our competitive advantage and worldwide leadership. We open the door for a sustainable and successful future as we move our focus toward cleaner, more effective technologies. The auto industry's journey involves not only innovation and competitiveness, but also reimagining mobility as a digital and sustainable arena.
Mr. Sunjay Kapur, President ACMA, and Chairman, Sona Comstar, said that, The auto components business is at a turning point where innovation, sustainability, talent development, investment, and R&D skills will determine the road to global success. By adopting cleaner energy sources, digitalization, and placing a priority on sustainability, we are set to increase our global competitiveness and drive excellence.
Mr. Vinnie Mehta, Director General of ACMA, said that, In the upcoming years, the Indian auto component industry is expected to experience rapid expansion. In order to assure sustainability, auto component producers, OEMs, and the Indian government are working together. ACMA is dedicated to assisting a smooth transition to sustainability and a circular automotive ecosystem.
The event witnessed the participation of over 1,500 delegates from OEMs, Component manufacturers, Government officials, and other stakeholders.
