Amazon Adds 27 Mercedes eActros 600 E-Trucks

Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Wörth am Rhein- Mercedes-Benz Trucks has officially handed over the first 27 battery-electric eActros 600 trucks to Amazon, marking another significant step in the electrification of heavy-duty freight transport in Germany. By the end of 2026, more than 50 eActros 600 trucks are expected to be operating within Amazon’s German transportation network.

The deployment forms part of a major agreement signed by Amazon and Mercedes-Benz Trucks in early 2025 for more than 200 eActros 600 electric trucks. The deal represents Amazon’s largest-ever order for battery-electric heavy-duty trucks. Deliveries to the United Kingdom, where the majority of the vehicles are being deployed, began in late 2025.

Manufactured at Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ Wörth am Rhein facility, the eActros 600 has been developed specifically for demanding long-distance freight operations. The electric truck combines a high-capacity battery system with an efficient electric drive axle developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Amazon plans to deploy the trucks primarily on middle-mile routes, transporting goods between fulfillment centers and urban areas. The introduction of the vehicles extends Amazon’s use of electric mobility beyond last-mile deliveries into heavier and longer-distance logistics operations.

Mr. Stina Fagerman, President of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Customer Region Europe, said Amazon’s adoption of the eActros 600 demonstrates growing confidence in battery-electric technology for heavy-duty transportation. She also highlighted the importance of partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and major fleet operators in accelerating the industry's transition toward electrification.

Mr. Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Sustainable Operations at Amazon, described the vehicle handover as an important milestone in the electrification of Amazon’s transportation network, particularly as electric trucks begin operating on longer routes between logistics facilities and urban areas.
