Ohio, USA - American Augers, Inc., a construction equipment manufacturer, has unveiled the new M150D fluid cleaning system, a compact prototype designed for utility contractors working on smaller horizontal directional drilling jobsites. The machine was showcased by sister company Ditch Witch at ConExpo 2026.
Built for use with drills ranging from 20,000 pounds to 120,000 pounds, the M150D is aimed at tight worksites where space and efficiency are critical. Including its trailer, the unit measures 24.2 feet in length, 11.6 feet in height, and 8.6 feet in width, with a total weight of 26,000 pounds.
A key feature of the M150D is its ability to carry its own drilling fluid, reducing the need for separate fluid trucks. Its 1,000-gallon tank capacity helps contractors minimize dumping frequency while also allowing fluid reuse.
The system is equipped with American Augers’ three-panel Derrick Hyperpool shaker, designed to improve screening and solids separation. This helps deliver cleaner drilling fluid, lower disposal costs, and better overall drilling performance.
For smoother operation, the M150D includes fluid jets in the dirty tank and mechanical agitation in the clean tank, supporting better drilling consistency and faster cleanout. Contractors also benefit from quick setup and teardown, thanks to hydraulic leveling jacks and a compact design, along with a 150-gallons-per-minute hydraulic pit pump with adjustable flow to match site conditions.
The M150D becomes the fifth model in American Augers’ fluid cleaning system lineup, which currently spans from the M200D for 100,000-pound-class drills to the M1200DH, a larger system featuring a fully hydraulic catwalk and foldout walkaway.
The pump system includes a 15-horsepower cone pump, 3-horsepower agitate pump, and 7.5-horsepower offload/mix pump, all supported by a 74-horsepower, 3-phase, 480V motor.
