Chennai- Ashok Leyland Limited., a commercial vehicle manufacturer of the Hinduja Group, has secured an order worth INR 297.85 crore to supply 320 diesel buses to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). The Chennai-based OEM will deliver BS VI-compliant, 12-meter ultra-low entry rear-engine buses for city operations between June and August this year.

These buses are equipped with iGen 6 BS VI technology and powered by a 184 kW (246 hp) H-Series engine, featuring front and rear air suspension for enhanced ride comfort. Ashok Leyland remains the only OEM in India manufacturing 12m ultra-low floor diesel buses and has already commenced deliveries to MTC, Tamil Nadu.

In July last year, the company secured its largest single order of 2,104 fully built buses from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. Expanding its product portfolio, Ashok Leyland recently introduced the Bada Dost i5 in the 3.5-4T segment and, in Q2FY25, received a repeat order for 180 units of the Boss 19T BEV and AVTR 55T TT BEV.
