Date: August 29, 2024Chennai- Ashok Leyland Limited., of the Hinduja Group, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, unveiled its pioneering GARUD 15M bus chassis at Prawaas 4.0, organized by Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).
The GARUD 15M marks a significant milestone as India’s first front-engine multi-axle bus chassis, setting a new benchmark in the industry. Engineered specifically for long-distance intercity travel, this pioneering platform offers the most expansive saloon space available in Indian buses. With an unmatched capacity of 42 sleeper berths, the GARUD 15M optimizes per-trip revenue for bus operators. It stands out with the highest GVW in its class at 22,500 kg, and its advanced design ensures comfort during extended journeys. Additionally, it provides ample luggage space, further enhancing its practicality for long-haul travel.

The GARUD 15M bus chassis, set for commercial launch in Q4 FY25, emphasizes safety and comfort with features like front disc brakes, an electromagnetic retarder, and optional full air suspension with an anti-roll bar. The 3-way adjustable, ergonomic driver seat, paired with an air-assisted hydraulic clutch and cable shift gearbox, ensures a smooth drive across India’s diverse terrains. Powered by a Series A 4-cylinder engine with Gen technology, it delivers 185kW (248hp) at 2200 rpm and 900Nm of torque at 1300-1800 rpm. The bus also includes power-assisted steering, ABS-equipped air brakes, and a 375L fuel tank, offering a wheelbase of 7650 mm, a GVW of 22500 kg, and seating for up to 60+D or 42+D sleeper berths.
