      Ashok Leyland wins TNSTU order for 1,937 buses

      Chennai- Ashok Leyland Limited., of the Hinduja Group., a commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced that it has received an order from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TNSTU) for 1,937 buses. This landmark deal further strengthens Ashok Leyland’s long-standing partnership with TNSTU and reaffirms its leadership in the Indian bus industry.

      With over 21,000 Ashok Leyland buses already in operation across TNSTU fleets, the company remains the transport body’s preferred brand. The newly ordered buses will feature advanced iGen6 BS VI technology and will be designed for maximum passenger comfort. The order includes both fully built and chassis configurations, customized for town, mofussil, and SETC operations. Each vehicle will be built on an AIS 153-compliant chassis platform, aligning with the latest Indian safety and performance regulations to deliver enhanced strength, comfort, and reliability.

      The new Viking and SETC models offer upgraded performance and safety, featuring enhanced batteries and alternators to support advanced ITMS needs. The high-speed Mofussil and SETC buses include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) for improved handling and safety. Meanwhile, Urban Low Entry and Semi Low Floor buses (650mm) come with automatic transmission, air suspension, and optimized interiors for smoother rides. To ensure accessibility, all models are equipped with wheelchair ramps, promoting inclusive mobility for passengers with special needs.
