BasiGo Rwanda Expands Electric Intercity Bus Fleet

Kigali, Rwanda- BasiGo Rwanda a subsidiary of BasiGo Limited., a public transport company, has expanded its electric bus fleet following the arrival of new i8 intercity coaches, increasing the company’s total fleet to 52 vehicles.

The newly delivered coaches are equipped with CATL battery systems offering a range of up to 350 kilometres. They will operate on long-distance routes connecting Kigali with Musanze, Rubavu, Huye, Rusizi, Nyagatare and other destinations across Rwanda.

The deployment is aimed at supporting the electrification of intercity transportation and extending the use of zero-emission buses beyond urban routes.

As part of operational testing, one of the i8 electric coaches successfully completed a round trip between Kigali and Rusizi, one of the country’s longest intercity routes.

BasiGo Rwanda said the latest fleet expansion forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen electric public transport infrastructure and increase the number of zero-emission buses operating in daily service across the country.
