Bangalore – The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) is scheduled to open 80 EV charging stations soon. Initially it was estimated in March 2020, due to the ongoing COVID 19 crisis, it will be postponed and commercially opened in second half of financial year.

The power utility has received USD 0.5mn from the State government through the Transport Department for setting up the charging infrastructure. The new charging stations are located on government office premises to easy up the process.

BESCOM had earlier announced that the EV charging stations would be solar power however it is dropped due to economic viability. Only in few stations is integrated with the solar system on roof top.
