      BMW Launches First-Ever i5 Long Wheelbase Electric Sedan

      BMW India has launched the all-electric i5 Long Wheelbase sedan, priced at ₹79.60 lakh. Locally manufactured in Chennai, it offers a claimed range of up to 669 km, advanced technology, premium features and enhanced rear-seat comfort.

      Gurugram, India- BMW India., has launched the first-ever BMW i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB), an all-electric luxury sedan designed to offer more space, comfort and advanced technology. The car will be locally manufactured at BMW Group Plant Chennai, with customer deliveries starting immediately. Customers can book the new sedan through BMW dealerships across India and the official BMW India website.

      The BMW i5 LWB is available in two variants: the i5 eDrive35L M Sport and the i5 eDrive35L M Sport First Edition. Both variants have an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹79.60 lakh. The First Edition is limited to 99 customers, and all 99 units were sold before the official launch.

      Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said, “The launch of the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase marks an important step in our electric mobility journey in India. With its spacious interior, advanced technology and impressive electric range, the new BMW i5 LWB offers customers a premium electric driving experience.”

      The BMW i5 LWB measures 5,175 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, providing additional space for passengers. The exterior features an illuminated BMW kidney grille, adaptive LED headlights, LED tail lights and 20-inch M alloy wheels. The sedan is available in four metallic colours: Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Carbon Black and Oxide Grey.

      Inside, the BMW i5 LWB features a BMW Curved Display with a 12.3-inch driver information screen and a 14.9-inch control display. Other features include an illuminated BMW Interaction Bar, ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass sunroof and four-zone climate control. The cabin also offers vegan upholstery, a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and digital key functionality. The First Edition variant also includes exclusive interior trim and a rear-seat entertainment package.

      The BMW i5 eDrive35L is powered by an electric motor that produces 268 hp and 410 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 195 km/h. The car uses an 81.6 kWh battery and offers a claimed driving range of up to 669 km on a single charge, based on the MIDC test cycle.

      For charging, the sedan supports DC fast charging at up to 160 kW. According to BMW, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 33 minutes. A BMW Wallbox home charger with installation is also included.

      The BMW i5 LWB comes with adaptive rear-axle air suspension and enhanced ground clearance to improve ride comfort on Indian roads. Driver assistance and parking features include Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Parking Assistant Professional, Lane Change Warning and Reverse Assistant. Safety equipment includes eight airbags, Dynamic Stability Control and multiple collision-warning systems.

      With local manufacturing, a claimed driving range of up to 669 km and a spacious cabin, the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase expands BMW India's electric luxury car portfolio. It combines electric performance, modern technology and passenger comfort for customers looking for a premium electric sedan.
