Date: July 6, 2024New Delhi-BMW Motorrad, a motorcycle manufacturer has launched its new R 12 and R 12 nineT roadster models in India, priced at Rs 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 20.90 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
BMW's heritage motorcycle lineup competes with Triumph's Speed Twin and Bonneville Speedmaster in the Indian market. These models showcase classic retro styling, featuring distinctive elements like an aluminum fuel tank, brushed side panels, dual exhausts, and spoke wheels. Powering both motorcycles is a 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine that produces 110 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
The BMW R 12 nineT features an aluminum tank with brushed side panels, whereas the R 12 is equipped with a steel tank reminiscent of the classic 1970s BMW /5 models. Both motorcycles are fitted with full-LED lighting, an adaptive LED headlamp, and a suite of advanced electronics including traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking control, keyless ignition, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The R 12 nineT comes equipped with standard riding modes such as "Rain," "Road," and "Dynamic." In contrast, the new R 12 introduces "Roll" and "Rock" modes. Both models feature 17-inch wheels, a 45mm USD fork at the front, and a paralever swingarm at the rear. For braking, they utilize 310mm discs at the front and a single 265mm rotor at the rear. Additionally, the optional Comfort Package includes upgrades like Hill Start Control Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, and cruise control.
