Louisville, Kentucky - Bomag GmbH., a compaction equipment manufacturer, has introduced the new BT 30 tamper, a lightweight and highly maneuverable compaction machine designed for use in confined spaces. Weighing less than 70 lb (31 kg) and featuring a 5.5-inch (140-mm) plate width, the BT 30 delivers powerful compaction performance ideal for trenching, foundation work, landscaping, and pipeline construction.
The tamper’s variable frequency settings, reaching up to 790 vpm (13.2 Hz), enable operators to adjust compaction forces for optimal results across a variety of soil types including clay, silty, and mixed soils. A 1.8-inch (45-mm) hopping height ensures high compaction force despite the unit’s compact size.
Built for ease of handling, the BT 30 features an ergonomic, vibration-isolated steering handle that minimizes operator fatigue and includes a single-point lifting device for simplified transport.
Powered by a Honda 4-stroke gasoline engine, the tamper requires no oil-fuel mixture and is equipped with a two-stage, self-cleaning air filter system and dual fuel filters to reduce maintenance and downtime. A durable engine cover shields key components from job site damage.
Reflecting BOMAG’s commitment to durability, the BT 30 is backed by the company’s exclusive 3-2-1 Warranty, ensuring reliable performance in rental, commercial, and landscaping applications.
The new BT 30 tamper will make its first public appearance at Equip Expo 2025, held October 21–24 in Louisville, Kentucky, at KATO Compact Excavator Sales’ indoor booth #7164. Commercial availability is planned for spring 2026.
