BorgWarner to develop two transfer cases in China, boosting performance and market share in export models.
Date: February 7, 2025Auburn Hills, United State- BorgWarner Inc., an American automotive and e-mobility supplier, automotive and e-mobility supplier, is supporting SAIC Maxus by providing locally developed and manufactured transfer cases. The company will supply two types: an on-demand transfer case with mechanical locking and a high-torque part-time transfer case. Mass production is set to begin in 2026.

BorgWarner’s advanced transfer cases incorporate the company’s HY-VO driveline chain, optimizing efficiency at high speeds. Designed to support both 2-Wheel Drive High Range (2H) and AUTO modes, they offer improved fuel efficiency on paved roads compared to full-time 4WD systems. For vehicles with on-demand 4WD, these transfer cases enhance safety, handling, and drivability, while the mechanical locking mode ensures superior off-road performance, climbing ability, and recovery capability.
