      New Delhi- BYD India Private Limited, a subsidiary of NEV manufacturer BYD, has appointed Mr. Rajeev Chauhan as Vice President of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, succeeding Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, as he retiring after over three decades in the Indian automotive industry, including establishing the EV Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India.

      Mr. Rajeev Chauhan, an accomplished automotive leader with over 25 years of experience, has worked companies such as Honda Cars India and Volvo Car India. Throughout his career, he has driven innovative strategies across various domains, including retail network, customer experience, electrification, direct sales, product development, customer service, and digital transformation. His focus on optimizing retail capacity with a strong customer orientation has redefined customer experiences, increased market share, created a highly profitable dealer network, and boosted overall company profitability. He will now spearhead the electric passenger vehicle business at BYD India.

      Speaking on his retirement, Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, outgoing Senior Vice President, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, "The world is at the cusp of a brighter and more sustainable future. And BYD has been playing a stellar role in this progress towards a greener tomorrow. It is my honour to be a part of this journey where we can together make sustainable technologies and sustainable motoring more accessible to Indian Consumers. I can’t ask for a better way to bow out than to retire at the pinnacle of eco-sensitive, sustainable motoring, which is the blueprint for the future.”

      BYD has maintained its top-10 position in the Kantar BrandZ Global Automotive Brands rankings for 2024 for the second consecutive year, with a brand value exceeding US$10 billion. In 2023, BYD's global car sales surpassed 3.02 million units, totaling over 7.6 million NEVs sold to date. In India, BYD offers the e6 electric MPV, the ATTO 3 electric SUV, and the newly launched BYD SEAL luxury electric sedan, which boasts a range of up to 650 km, 0-100 kph acceleration in 3.8 seconds, CTB technology, ADAS Level 2, and 9 airbags.
