CEVA Logistics boosts sustainability with 23 electric trucks across Europe, advancing its low-carbon fleet.
Date: February 6, 2025Marseille, France- CEVA Logistics SA., a logistics company, has announced the addition of 23 electric trucks to its fleet, replacing diesel vehicles for collection and distribution operations across France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This move is a key step in CEVA’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. As part of its strategy to reduce its carbon footprint, CEVA is focusing on alternative fuels and electric vehicles, which are central to its near-term sustainability goals. With this latest acquisition, the company’s fleet now includes 541 electric trucks and vans, which are used for groupage transport (LTL), collection, urban deliveries, and special projects like the ECTN.
CEVA Logistics has added 23 new electric vehicles to its fleet, consisting of 21 straight trucks (weighing 7.5, 16, and 19 tons) and two road tractors, which will handle collection and distribution operations from eight of CEVA’s Ground operation sites in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. As one of the 80 recipients of the first round of the "Ecosystems of Electric Heavy Vehicles" project, CEVA received financial support from ADEME for the purchase of 21 trucks operating in France.
The commissioning of these electric vehicles began in late 2024 and will continue into the first half of 2025. These new trucks are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 984 tons, contributing to an overall annual reduction of over 38,300 tons of CO2 across CEVA's fleet of more than 1,100 low carbon vehicles.
CEVA prepared for the arrival of these new vehicles by installing charging stations at its facilities in Lille, Rouen, Gennevilliers, Bordeaux, Lyon and Avignon, France, as well as Oosterhout, in the Netherlands, and Braine l’Alleud, in Belgium. The 85 needed charging stations were deployed for the charging of these electric trucks, but also to offer the possibility of recharging light vehicles at the facilities. With these additions, CEVA has a network of more than 300 charging stations installed in France and 1,035 worldwide.
Mr. Cédric Chacon, Europe Ground & Rail Product Leader at CEVA Logistics, said, "By strengthening the fleet for our ground operations with an additional 23 electric trucks, we are progressing in our journey towards more sustainable logistics, which we believe includes the use of electric or low carbon vehicles. This investment illustrates one of the fundamental pillars of our CSR strategy, 'Acting for the Planet,' and demonstrates our desire to offer sustainable transport solutions to our customers."
